Owl Be Back

VIDEO REPORT: The West Brom’s Big Hoot owl is reunited with the artist who painted his plumage.

It was more than just a flying visit when the lettering artist who painted the West Brom’s Big Hoot owl swooped into Sutton Coldfield town centre to see her creation in-situ.

‘A Word to the Wise’ was designed by Elizabeth Forrest and is perched at the Birmingham Road end of The Parade, a few yards from the Society’s Sutton branch which is sponsoring it.

The 5ft 5ins tall ‘bird’ is part of the ‘Sutton Owlfield’ trail designed to showcase seven giant owls in the town centre and surrounding areas.

A total of 89 owl statues make up the main Big Hoot exhibition created to raise funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

The Big Hoot is presented in partnership with the hospital by public arts specialists Wild in Art.
