West Brom in the Community
| |
 |
As our chosen charity, the West Brom helps to raise much-needed funds for Acorns. At the same time, this support also involves our people in various volunteering projects for this vital charity, which provides the highest quality of care at its three hospices in Birmingham, Walsall and Worcester.
Every year, through its affinity accounts, the West Brom supports a variety of charities and community causes, which tackle genuine human need and disadvantage. This also includes widening educational and sporting opportunities for children and young people in more deprived communities, as well as supporting Birmingham Children’s Hospital and its ongoing Red Balloon Appeal. |

Serving Up Treats for Acorns
West Brom branch staff staged a series of cake and coffee mornings in support of Acorns Children’s Hospice and, thanks to the generosity of their customers, managed to raise a very sweet tasting £2,500.
Branches in Shropshire and mid-Wales donated funds from their coffee mornings to Hope House hospice in Morda, near Oswestry. |

Welcome Boost for Money Advice Centre
A centre helping people in Shropshire cope with money and debt problems received a £1,000 grant from the West Brom through the Mercian Trust. Trinity Money Advice Centre in Shrewsbury will use the money to recruit and train more volunteer advisers, who offer free and impartial support on a wide range of money matters.

Acorns Tally Reaches £10,000
The West Brom’s bond with its chosen charity continues to grow as fundraising activity reached a major milestone. Acorns Children’s Hospice was thrilled to receive a donation for £10,000, collected over six months through a variety of initiatives and sponsored events.
Staff have also undertaken more voluntary work on behalf of Acorns, most recently at the Three Counties hospice in Worcester where colleagues painted fences and tidied the grounds.

Helping Families Living with Dementia
A £2,000 gift to Alzheimer’s Society will enable the charity to fund a support group in the Black Country for carers of people with dementia. The West Brom’s donation, made through the Mercian Trust, will help pay for venue hire and refreshments at its monthly community meetings, which provide carers with the opportunity to share experiences and receive advice.
