Holiday Entitlements

Holiday Entitlement is calculated on a pro rata basis, based on length of service:

  • 2.08 days per completed month up to 2 years' service (maximum 25 days)
  • 2.17 days per completed month from 2 to 5 years' service (maximum 26 days)
  • 2.25 days per completed month from 5 to 10 years' service (maximum 27 days)
  • 2.58 days per completed month after 10 years' service (maximum 31 days)

Training & Development

The Society encourages your work-related skills and experience through on the job training and where appropriate, study for an approved qualification. On average, the Society spends approximately £650 on each employee's personal development.

Stakeholder Pension Scheme

Employees are eligible to join the Stakeholder Pension Plan, on the first of the month after joining the Society. After a waiting period, the Society contributes a percentage of employee Gross Monetary Earnings based on the level of employees contributions.

Life Assurance

All employees are entitled to Life Assurance. This is 3 times salary whilst in the pension scheme waiting period and 4 times salary once contributing to the Society Stakeholder Pension Scheme.

Private Medical Insurance

The Society's Private Health Insurance is offered at a corporate discounted rate after 2 years continuous service and premium free after 8 years continuous service, subject to the scheme rules.

Staff Mortgage

The Society offers all eligible staff members a fixed interest rate mortgage. This benefit entitles staff to borrow 50,000 at 3.5%.

WBBS Social Club

The WBBS Social Club organises and offers a range of social events and activities at a discounted rate, to its members. This includes theatre trips, concert tickets, shopping trips, sporting events and much more.

Employee Support Helpline

The Society offers an Employee Support Helpline, which provides advice, information and counselling services for employees and their families. The line is free of charge, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and 100% confidential.

Discounted Travel Cards

West Midlands Travel and Centro cards, covering Bus, Metro and Rail travel in a wide range of geographical areas are available to employees at a discounted rate. In addition, the Society offers interest free loans to pay for the card over 6, 10 or 12 monthly instalments directly through the Payroll.

Eye Care Benefits Scheme

The Society covers the cost of employee eye tests and is registered in a Corporate Eyecare Scheme, which offers comprehensive savings on eye examinations, spectacles and contact lenses to all employees and their families.

Flu Vaccinations

The Society runs a flu vaccination programme on an annual basis available to all staff.

Alternative Therapies

Alternative Therapies including remedial massage, aromatherapy, reflexology and Indian head massage are available at a reduced rate to all Society staff. The therapists work at Head Office on a weekly basis and at a number of off-site locations on an ad-hoc basis.

Childcare Vouchers

In conjunction with Leapfrog, the Society offers childcare vouchers to parents, offering a National Insurance contribution saving to the employee. These can be used at one of Leapfrog's countrywide purpose built day nurseries, or as payment for other registered childminders, nannies, nurseries etc.

Tax-Free is the contractual rate of interest payable where interest is exempt from income tax.
