Diversity and Inclusion

We value people from all backgrounds and recognise the importance of diversity and inclusion. Having a workforce that is representative of the wide range of customers that we interact with on a daily basis means that we are better able to serve those customers and in turn our staff benefit as a result. The West Brom adopts progressive working practices in order to encourage a variety of lifestyles.

Our commitment is to foster a culture where our staff from whatever background feel that they can share our values, fulfil their potential and be appropriately rewarded. In order to meet this commitment we are developing a Diversity Strategy, to be launched in 2017 to focus on this area.

As part of this initiative we have signed up to the 'Women in Finance Charter' aimed specifically at increasing the levels of women in senior roles in the finance sector.

Our Executive sponsor for this initiative is Jonathan Westhoff, the Society's Chief Executive. We have set ourselves two targets for female representation, to be achieved by 2020 – that 30% of the Society’s Board will be female and that of those occupying positions in the senior management population 30% will be female.

These diversity and inclusion measures will form a part of the annual incentive plan for senior executives from 2017. We intend to set other diversity related measures in due course, in relation to other facets of diversity.
