Community-spirited golfers from a local building society chipped in with a £3,800 donation for Alzheimer’s Society.
Nineteen teams drawn from business partners, suppliers and colleagues took part in a fundraising golf day organised by the West Brom at Swindon Golf Club near Wombourne.
Awards were presented for the best scoring team, longest drive and shots nearest the pin. A raffle with prizes, including American Golf vouchers and a Hotel Chocolat hamper, also helped to raise money for the cause.
The West Brom’s Dave Taylor, who helped to organise the event, said: “Alzheimer’s Society is our new nominated charity and the event was a great way to kick-start this year’s fundraising campaign.
“We are very grateful to everyone who gave so generously and contributed to a most enjoyable day.”
Ray Nash, Alzheimer's Society's Senior Regional Corporate Fundraising Executive, said: “We’re delighted that the West Brom has chosen us as its charity partner. One in three people aged over 65 will develop dementia so there is a real need for help and understanding for those living with the condition and their families and carers.
“The golf day was the first of several major events planned to raise funds and awareness and we are looking forward to an exciting partnership.”
