People in Redditch and Bromsgrove will have the chance to learn more about managing their money in retirement next week at a series of pensions open days.
The West Brom is hosting events at its local branches on Tuesday, 11 October (Redditch) and Wednesday, 12 October (Bromsgrove).
Independent financial advisers from the Society’s partner Wren Sterling will be on hand to help unravel some of the mysteries behind pensions, financial planning and investments.
David Peckham, the West Brom’s retail manager, is hoping the open days will make understanding pensions a little less daunting for the general public.
He said: “The rules governing private pensions have changed significantly in the last 18 months, leaving some people confused about how and when they can access their money and what the tax implications will be. Similarly we get customers asking how the UK’s decision to leave the EU may impact on pensions.
“These are just some of the issues we can discuss, giving the people the chance to seek expert guidance without any pressure or obligation to invest.
“Pensions, and financial matters in general, can be a complicated subject so an informal chat with an independent financial adviser could prove extremely beneficial.”
Each event runs from 10.30am until 4.30pm and staff will be offering refreshments. There is no charge, appointments are not necessary and you don’t have to be an existing West Brom customer to attend. Some fees or charges may apply if action is taken after the initial review with an adviser.
David added: “It’s never too early to start planning for retirement so this event should appeal to people of all ages.
“Better still, the advisers we work with from Wren Sterling offer fully independent advice. They are not tied to any particular product provider and therefore can offer recommendations that are tailored to a customer’s specific needs.”
