Volunteers add a touch of sparkle

All hands on ‘decs’ as Society staff visit local hospital wards and get them ready for Christmas.

Kind-hearted colleagues from the West Brom have delivered Christmas sparkle to young patients at two hospitals.

More than two-dozen volunteers helped put up a colourful array of decorations throughout the children’s wards at Sandwell General and Birmingham City hospitals.

Sarah Keyte, one of the volunteers and Manager of the West Brom’s Great Bridge branch, said: “We were all thrilled to be able to bring joy to youngsters who are facing the difficult prospect of being in hospital over the Christmas period.

“There was real enthusiasm amongst the team and everyone was keen to play their part in making a difference.”

Amanda Winwood, Membership Academy and Fundraising Manager for Your Trust Charity, which is coordinating festive donations for the hospitals, added: “The decorations have really brought a smile to staff and patients alike.

“We are hugely grateful to the West Brom for donating the decorations and providing the volunteers to help us put them up.  It has certainly created a lot of festive cheer on our children’s wards.”
