Pitch-perfect Chris Bicknell spent a day busking to raise nearly £500 for the charity Marie Curie Cancer Care.
But this was a gig with a difference, for building society colleague Chris was battling against the clock as well as the freezing winter weather.
As part of his ‘Busk Until Dusk’ initiative, he pledged to complete a total of five back to back performances before closing time outside West Brom branches in Oswestry, Shrewsbury, Bromsgrove, Stourbridge and Dartmouth Square in West Bromwich.
Chris racked up around 200 miles and travelled across three counties to complete his musical marathon. Fortunately there were plenty of donations for Marie Curie to be found along the way.
Chris, who has worked for the West Brom since 2005, came up with the idea for Busk Until Dusk after losing a family member to cancer.
He said: “My nan was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer last year and the care and support she received from Marie Curie was absolutely brilliant. I was determined to think of a way of raising money on their behalf. I gig regularly in my free time, although I’ve never taken on a challenge quite like this!
“I really enjoyed the day and am overjoyed with the amount raised. I certainly hope the customers and shoppers enjoyed my performances as much as I did.”
