The West Brom has agreed a deal to relocate its branch in Birmingham city centre from Colmore Row to 67 New Street.

The Society is in the process of refurbishing the new site and plans to begin trading there from 29 November. It has operated from Colmore Row for 25 years, but believes the time is right to opt for a location closer to the main retail district.

Director of Marketing and Distribution James Wright said: “We think our new branch on New Street will offer customers greater convenience, particularly given its proximity to Grand Central and the recently extended Midland Metro line.

“It also gives us the opportunity to bring our Birmingham branch fully in line with the Society’s updated brand identity, enhancing the overall customer experience.”

The New Street building provides 1,234 sq ft on the ground floor and has been taken by the West Brom on a ten year lease agreement. Following its refurbishment the branch will feature three counter points and two private consultation rooms.

Services will include access to a broad range of savings, mortgage, insurance and protection products. Customers will be able to meet with a personal mortgage consultant to discuss their home buying needs and book appointments with an independent financial adviser to assist with investments and planning for later life.

The West Brom in Birmingham employs five members of staff led by Retail Manager Steve Perry who will all transfer across to New Street when the relocation is completed.

Founded in 1849, the West Brom is a leading provider of financial services and the seventh largest building society in the UK. It has 446,000 members and runs 37 branches throughout Birmingham, the Black Country, Shropshire and mid-Wales.
