The West Brom announces new appointments to its Board

The West Brom has appointed two new Executive Directors to the Board, Alex Pawley and Martin Boyle, subject to regulatory approval.

It follows an announcement earlier in the year that the Society’s Group Finance and Operations Director, Ashraf Piranie, was leaving.

Alex Pawley, the Society’s current Divisional Director of Treasury and Finance has been appointed Chief Financial Officer, with the change taking effect from 1 January 2023. Alex, a chartered accountant and previous senior manager at Deloitte LLP, joined the Society in 2016 as Head of Financial Planning, before being promoted to the Executive Committee in 2020.

Metro Bank’s Chief Transformation Officer, Martin Boyle, will also join the West Brom, taking up the role of Chief Operating Officer. Martin brings a wealth of transformation and operations experience following senior leadership positions at Nationwide Building Society, Portman Building Society, Visa Europe and Accenture. Martin Boyle is expected to take up his new role in spring 2023.

Speaking on the appointments, John Maltby, the Society’s Chair, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Alex Pawley and Martin Boyle to the Board. They join us at an exciting time and bring extensive knowledge and experience, which will further strengthen our leadership team as we move into the next phase of the West Brom.

“I’d also like to thank Ashraf for his valued contribution to the West Brom over the last five years and wish him the best in the next chapter of his career.”
