West Brom Building Society named one of The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2026

West Brom Building Society has secured a place on The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2026 list, marking its second consecutive year of recognition.

The annual list celebrates organisations from across the UK that demonstrate high levels of employee engagement and workplace satisfaction. The West Brom’s inclusion reflects its focus on creating a supportive and rewarding working environment, shaped by listening to colleagues and responding to what matters most to them.

A key development has been the launch of a new recognition scheme, introduced as a direct response to colleague feedback and shaped by Recognition Champions across the Society. The scheme offers a wide range of benefits and perks, enabling more personalised and meaningful recognition.

The Society also remains committed to equity, inclusion and diversity, with its colleague led Connect group helping to shape an inclusive workplace. Networks such as the Pride Inclusive Network and Women’s Inclusive Network support activity throughout the year, creating an environment where colleagues feel seen, heard and able to be themselves.

Other achievements include becoming the first building society and West Midlands employer to gain all three Living Wage Foundation accreditations for Wages, Hours and Pensions in March 2025. This was followed by West Brom Building Society Foundation being recognised as a Living Wage Funder later that year, meaning together they became just the third in the UK to achieve all four accreditations, reinforcing a focus on fair reward and financial wellbeing.

In addition, the West Brom achieved B Corp™ certification, independently recognising its high standards of social and environmental performance and commitment to doing the right thing for people, communities and the planet.

Sophie Pazzaglia, Chief People Officer at West Brom Building Society said: “We’re very proud to be recognised in The Sunday Times Best Places to Work list for a second year running. It reflects the culture we’re building together, one where colleagues feel valued, supported and able to be themselves at work.

“Over the past year, there’s been continued investment in initiatives that make a meaningful difference, from introducing new ways to recognise colleagues to strengthening inclusion through colleague-led networks. Achieving B Corp™ certification and reaching significant Living Wage Foundation milestones have also been important steps in demonstrating our commitment to doing the right thing. While there’s always more to do, this recognition reflects the passion and dedication of colleagues across the Society, who make the West Brom such a great place to work.”
