Fundraising plans go sky high

Go Red events raise an impressive sum for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

go red

Customers have been seeing red at West Brom branches, but fortunately in support of a good cause.

The Society staged a Go Red fundraising day on behalf of Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, collecting £2,850.

Branch colleagues and those based at our head office in West Bromwich were invited to wear red to work, the distinctive colour synonymous with the charity and its fleet of helicopters.

Fundraising activities took place throughout the day, including cake sales, coffee mornings, raffles and quizzes.

Jon Cottrell, Corporate Development Executive for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said: “It was great to see so many people symbolising their support for our charity by wearing something red for the day – and better still that customers and colleagues were so generous in making donations.

“Each mission our teams undertake costs around £2,500. That means the activities organised by the West Brom could genuinely prove to be life-saving by helping us to provide the vital medical support that so many patients need.”

Midlands Air Ambulance is the West Brom’s nominated charity for the year having been selected by staff in a vote.  The charity serves the communities of six Midlands counties and carries out an average of 3,500 emergency missions every year using three air ambulance aircraft and two cardiac cars.

Funded by donations, Midlands Air Ambulance Charity relies on support from local people and businesses to raise the £9 million needed every year to deliver its services.
