The West Brom branches become donation points for Barnardos

The West Brom is celebrating Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving taking place on Tuesday 28th November, by asking customers to donate their pre-loved clothes to its branches to support children’s charity Barnardo’s.

Until Friday 1st December, all 34 branches of the West Brom will become donation points for pre-loved clothing, with all donations being sent to the building society’s corporate charity partner, Barnardo’s.

Customers are being asked to bring in their bags of clothing and hand them to a member of staff at any West Brom branch. All clothing will be accepted providing it is in good condition, and donations of good quality menswear, womenswear and winter clothing will be especially welcomed.

Currently, more than one in four children in the UK live in poverty and without the right support, poverty will harm them long into their future as they face worse life chances, poorer health and fewer opportunities. Barnardo’s works with children, young people and their parents and carers to make sure that every child has the best start in life.

Taking place every November since 2012, Giving Tuesday is a global movement that encourages people to do good. The day aims to inspire people to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity through acts of giving, whether that be giving time through volunteering, sharing skills or making donations.

Amy Mason, ESG Co-ordinator at the West Brom, comments: “As a mutual, we’ve long been committed to giving back to our local communities to help create a fairer society, and so we’re really pleased to be celebrating this Giving Tuesday with our charity partner Barnardo’s. Whether it’s a full bag of clothing or just one t-shirt, the donations made via our branches will make a big difference to those who receive them.”

Hugh Sherriffe, Barnardo’s Central Regional Director, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to our partners at the West Brom for choosing to celebrate Giving Tuesday by giving back to Barnardo’s. Donations of good quality clothing will be gratefully received by our many retail stores in the West Midlands and will help us continue to bring positive change for children and young people across the UK.”
