There might be another account that's right for you
We have a range of accounts no matter what you're saving for, so there might be another one that suits you better.
If you find one you like, you can request to fund it by transferring from another West Brom account during your application.
How to close your savings account
Close your account online
If you manage your account online using the Savings Portal, you can log in open_in_new and let us know which account you'd like to close.
You'll be able to request to withdraw your full balance to your nominated account, and your account will be closed once this has been completed.
Contact us
You can request to close your account over the phone by calling us or using live chat.
Your money will be sent to nominated account.
Branch accounts
You can close your account in person at a branch using your passbook - we won't be able to close your account without it.
Please note: we're unable to close non-branch accounts at our branches.
Closing a fixed rate account
Some fixed rate accounts might allow you to close your account before the fixed term ends, but there could be charges to pay - so it's best to check first.
You'll find this information in your account's terms and conditions.
Closing a notice account
Notice accounts usually require you to give notice if you want to move money out.
This applies if you're closing the account too, so you'll need to give notice and wait until the notice period is over for your request to be processed.
Check your account's terms and conditions to see the specifics around your notice period.
Closing an ISA
If you want to move your money to another ISA, you'll need to request an ISA transfer.
Your money will lose its tax-free status if you move it from an ISA to an account that isn't an ISA.
If you still want to close your ISA, you can - but remember to check the terms and conditions for your account in case there are any restrictions or early access charges.
What happens when you close your savings account?
It'll take up to three working days for us to close your account. When we close your account, we'll:
- Work out your final balance - this will include any interest that's payable.
- Move your money to your nominated account, or to a new account if you've asked us to.
Common questions
No - once you've asked us to close your account, you can't change your mind.
But you can apply for another savings account with us.
