The West Brom joins Reed’s Women in Technology Mentoring Programme

This International Women’s Day (8 March 2023), the West Brom have joined Reed’s Women in Technology Mentoring Programme to support the development of women in technology roles.

The programme is designed to connect women at all stages of their careers with an external mentor, offering tailored guidance and support to help realise their potential and achieve both personal and professional goals.

Sophie Pazzaglia, Chief People Officer at the West Brom, said: “We’ve always been committed to developing our female colleagues and were proud to be one of the initial signatories to the Women in Finance Charter back in 2016. Since then, we’ve continued to develop initiatives to support colleagues to grow their careers through our equity, diversity and inclusion network, and this partnership with Reed is another way we’re enhancing our commitment to our people.”

Carol Moseley, Head of Savings Programme and Chair of the West Brom’s Women in Technology network, added: “Having had a career in the technology space for more than 20 years, I know first-hand the benefits of having a network of likeminded people around you to support your career development, so it was great to be able to set this group up and forge a partnership with Reed.

“It’s fantastic to see the West Brom investing in our female colleagues in this way and I’m looking forward to seeing many of my colleagues grow and develop further.”

Kevin Dainty, Founder of Reed’s Women in Technology Mentoring Programme, commented: “The statistics outlining the disparity between men and women in technology are stark. Only 26% of the technology workforce are women; more shockingly, women that reach senior positions are scarce, with only 3% of CTOs or technical director roles being filled by women.

“We want Reed’s Women in Technology Mentoring Programme to change this – to give women an opportunity to feel empowered enough to take control of their careers in an industry that is typically male-orientated via mentoring and career coaching. Together with The West Brom, we are one step closer in doing so.”

The programme is open to people from all sectors who hold roles in IT, Digital, Data, Security, Product or Transformation and has mentees from apprentice level through to Chief Operating Officer.
