The West Brom is a significant step closer to completing the move to its prestigious new headquarters.
Contractors have formally handed over the 70,000 sq ft premises at Providence Place in West Bromwich town centre, a step referred to as ‘practical completion’.
Work to equip and furnish the building has now begun and colleagues will relocate from the West Brom’s current office on High Street on a phased basis across the next seven weeks.
The newly built, five storey development is situated just off the A41 and close to the New Square retail centre. It will accommodate over 500 staff, with capacity for future expansion.
West Brom Chief Executive Jonathan Westhoff said: “This move is a huge milestone in the history of our Society and we are delighted to now be entering the home straight of this process.
“Practical completion is always a notable stage in any move of this kind and we now look forward to moving our various teams across.
“We have been in our current home on High Street since 1978, so in a way it will be the end of an era when we move. However, we know we are heading to modern, purpose-built premises which will enable us to grow the West Brom and better meet the needs of our customers.
“Providence Place is befitting of our status as the region’s largest independent building society and perfectly reflects our ambitions for the future.”
